JSA provides behavior therapy to young children and adolescents with a variety of developmental and pervasive delays (with a specialization in Autism Spectrum Disorders), referrals for psychiatric diagnoses, coexisting disorders (i.e. Axis I and II diagnoses), and related behavioral health struggles. We specialize in autism assessment and intervention with an approach that emphasizes the Verbal Behavior Model (Sundberg & Partington, 1998) based on principles consistent with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
At JSA, we prioritize personalized attention with small student-to-staff ratios, fostering active engagement in peer interactions and small group settings, key to student success. For those requiring consistent 1:1 support or long-term 1:1 assistance, we recommend a clinic-only environment. Operating on a 10-month school calendar, we acknowledge the challenges of breaks for students needing intensive supports, aiming to maintain routines effectively. While clinical supports are available, our primary focus is on creating least restrictive environments within a school setting, adhering to ethical standards set by the BACB. Families seeking full-day 1:1 support are encouraged to explore outside clinical options. JSA is ideal for students who can thrive in close proximity to peers, transitioning smoothly between activities and interacting positively with various adults, refraining from maladaptive behaviors. Notably, JSA is not an intensive behavioral support program and may not accommodate students with high rates of problem behaviors. Additionally, we are not equipped to handle intensive medical needs, including daily interventions or oversight of medical conditions beyond certain parameters.
